CIW Certification Exams Included in VA Education Benefits
U.S. veterans who take exams within the CIW certification program can now use their Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits to cover examination fees.
As of March 1, 2001 new VA education benefits allow individuals eligible for Montgomery G.I. Bill (Chapter 30), Veterans Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 32) and Dependents Educational Assistance (Chapter 35) benefits to apply for reimbursement for selected certification exam fees. CIW has been approved as one of many qualifying certification exams.
VA certification candidates worldwide can receive up to $2,000 per exam (up to the cost of the exam). Eligibility does not limit the number of exams a candidate may take, and includes exams that are retaken, exams needed for renewal of certifications, and exams taken outside the U.S. A qualifying veteran does not have to pass an exam to receive the benefit.
To receive reimbursement for CIW certification exams, candidates must provide the following information to the VA:
- Name and Social Security number
- Copy of the exam results
- Name and number of the exam, and the date taken
- Name and address of the organization issuing the license or certificate:
Prosoft Learning
410 North 44th Street, Suite 600
Phoenix, AZ 85008 - Cost of the exam
- The following signed statement: "I authorize release of my exam information to the VA."
